Praying the Word

Lately, more than ever, I am reminded to pray literally through the Word. So as I’ve been doing my daily reading, I pray through what I am reading. I also picked up my friend Zva’s book again for other Bible-based prayers. Instead of sharing today, I’ll give you two prayers from Bible-Based Prayers for Everyday Situations;

Foundational Prayer

“Your word will not return to you void”

~ Isaiah 55:8-13 ~

“Lord, your Word tells me that my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. I could never think or act the way you do. The heavens are an immeasurable distance from the earth, so are your ways higher than my ways and your thoughts higher than my thoughts. I am amazed at your magnitude. Indeed, you are high and lifted up!

I thank you, Father, for your Word which assures me that in the same way that “the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return without watering the earth”, so too is your word when you release it: it will accomplish what you desire, and achieve the purpose for which you sent it. This gives me great confidence, and I thank you for empowering me in this way.

Thank you also for your promise that I will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; and that instead of thorns such as [name some of your thorny situations], roses will grow in my life. Instead of [name another unpleasant circumstance], you will give me [name it]; and all this will bring great honour to your name and be an everlasting sign of your power and love.” (Naka 2020, 11)

Gratitude Prayer

“Ebenezer, thus far you have brought me”

~ 1 Samuel 7:12 ~

“Lord, because of your faithfulness, your love and your mercy, I can sing ‘Ebenezer’! You are my rock, and I will remember your help in bringing me this far! It is only because of you that I have managed to reach this point. There were times when I didn’t think I would make it, times when giving up seemed to be the only option, but you said ‘No’ and you held me up! You pulled me up from discouragement and held my hand. Thank you for provision, covering, restoration and power. Because of you, I have done it. Thank you, Lord!” (Naka 2020, 15)

If you’ve also felt this pull to pray the Word, I pray that you would continue in your practice. If you need a reminder or it’s your first time praying this way, pick up Bible-Based Prayers for Everyday Situations and start there.

Until next week …

Miracles + Blessings!

Leave an Amazon Review

If you have bought Memorial Stones, what do you think so far? I’d love it if you could leave me an honest review on Amazon! Reviews are incredibly helpful in getting the word out and getting the devotional into the hands of those it will bless.

Here are a few quick review tips:

  1. It doesn’t have to be long.
  2. It doesn’t have to be 5 stars.
  3. You don’t have to finish the book to leave an honest thought — you could just read one Memorial Stone.
